In my family of six we read the “Christmas Story” from Luke aloud to the kids as we sip hot cocoa and sit around the Christmas tree. We believe it is very important to teach our children (and to remember to refocus ourselves away from the commercialism of the holidays.) the real meaning of Christmas.

My Mother’s church always has a candlelight service on Christmas Eve. I love going to that, and so do my children when they are home. It really puts the focus where it belongs.

We include a wrapped present under our tree for the Prince of Peace. Each Christmas my husband and I write what we are giving our Lord on separate pieces of paper and place them in the box. What do you give someone who can litterally have everything? You end up giving something of yourself. Joy

At our house, we always have an advent calendar and the kids fight over who will change it to the next day. Also, we write uplifting messages for each family member and place them in tin cans designated for each family member. A Bible verse is recommended.

Me, my Dad and my brother go back to are other farm and cut down a “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree every year. My mom always wants to buy a nice, full figured tree- but we always beat her to it! But she loves it, because it’s our tree! We also go to church at midnight on Christmas Eve and come home and sleep in then open are presents!
